Data in, content out. Automatic screen updates.
Bind external data sources directly to your screen templates. When the data changes, your screens update automatically. No manual content editing, no scheduled imports, just live data flowing to your displays.
Live data on every screen without manual updates
Dynamic data mapping connects external data sources to on-screen template fields with a visual editor. Point a data source at a JSON API, XML feed, Google Sheet, or database and map fields to template zones. Your screens become live dashboards that update in real time as the underlying data changes. This is the foundation for data-driven digital signage at scale.
What you can do with Automatic screen updates.
Three capabilities that make this integration essential for your digital signage network.
Connect to any structured data
Dynamic data mapping supports a wide range of data sources. Connect to REST APIs that return JSON, XML feeds, Google Sheets, SQL databases, or hosted files. Each source is polled on a schedule or pushed via webhook for real-time updates.
If your data has structure, your screens can display it.
REST API connector with authentication support
Google Sheets and Excel Online live connectors
SQL database direct connection for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL
Map data to screens without code
The visual mapping editor shows your data structure on the left and your screen template on the right. Drag data fields to template zones and see a live preview with actual data. Apply transformations like date formatting, number rounding, and text truncation inline.
Connect data to design with drag and drop.
Side-by-side data and template view
Live preview with real data values
Inline transformations for formatting and calculations
Screens that react to data values
Define rules that change how data appears based on its value. Turn a KPI red when it drops below target. Show a different image when inventory is low. Hide a section when data is unavailable. Conditional logic makes your screens intelligent, not just informational.
Smart screens that respond to what the data is telling them.
Colour changes based on threshold values
Show or hide template zones based on data conditions
Dynamic image and icon selection based on data values
Four steps to connected screens.
From setup to live content in minutes, not days.
Add a data source
Set up a data source connection by providing the URL, credentials, or connection string for your external data.
Explore the data structure
The system fetches a sample of your data and displays its structure. Browse fields, arrays, and nested objects to understand what is available.
Map fields to your template
Drag data fields onto your screen template zones. Apply formatting rules and conditional logic to control how data is displayed.
Publish and automate
Set the data refresh interval and publish to your screens. Data changes flow to displays automatically at the chosen interval.
Built for every sector.

Live KPI dashboards
Connect business intelligence APIs to lobby and office screens to display live KPIs, sales figures, and operational metrics with conditional colour coding.
HealthcareWait time displays
Map queue management system data to waiting room screens showing real-time wait times, next patient number, and department status.
RetailDynamic product displays
Connect product database APIs to in-store screens showing live pricing, stock availability, and product descriptions that update as inventory changes.
FinancialMarket data displays
Map financial data feeds to trading floor and branch lobby screens displaying live stock prices, indices, and currency exchange rates.
Common questions. Straight answers.
What data sources can I connect to
You can connect to any REST API that returns JSON or XML, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel Online, SQL databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL, hosted CSV and XML files, and MQTT message brokers. If your data is accessible over a network, you can probably connect it.
How often is data refreshed on screen
You set the refresh interval per data source. Options range from every 5 seconds for real-time dashboards to daily for slowly changing data. Webhook-triggered sources update instantly when the source system pushes new data.
Can I combine data from multiple sources on one screen
Yes. A single screen template can pull data from multiple sources simultaneously. For example, you might show weather data from one API, sales figures from your CRM, and social media counts from another API, all on the same screen layout.
What happens if a data source becomes unavailable
Hangar.Media caches the last successful data fetch. If a source becomes unavailable, screens continue displaying the cached data. An alert is sent to your dashboard and optionally via email. When the source recovers, screens update with fresh data automatically.
One price. The whole platform.
