Know who is watching your screens.
Use camera-based audience analytics to measure how many people view your screens, how long they look, and what demographics they represent. Turn your signage into a measurable media channel.
Measurable screens, actionable insights
The Audience Analytics integration uses camera-based computer vision to detect and analyze viewers in front of your screens. Without storing any images or identifying individuals, the system counts viewers, estimates age ranges and gender distribution, measures attention time, and tracks emotional responses. This transforms your signage from a broadcast medium into a measurable advertising channel.
What you can do with watching your screens.
Three capabilities that make this integration essential for your digital signage network.
Count impressions accurately
The system counts how many people look at your screen and for how long. Unlike foot traffic counters, audience analytics distinguishes between passersby who glance and engaged viewers who stop. This gives you accurate impression data comparable to digital advertising metrics.
We finally know that 340 people actually look at our lobby screen each day, not just walk past it.
Distinct viewer count versus passerby count
Attention time measurement in seconds per viewer
Daily, weekly, and monthly impression trend reports
Rank content by real engagement
Each content item in your playlist receives an engagement score based on how many viewers it attracts and how long they watch. Compare scores across different creative assets to identify top performers and retire underperforming content based on data rather than assumptions.
Our video ad scored three times higher than the static image so we replaced low performers with video.
Per-content engagement scores across your playlist
A/B testing support to compare creative variations
Automated low-performer alerts and recommendations
Analytics without surveillance
All analysis happens on-device in real time. No images, video frames, or biometric data are stored or transmitted. The system outputs only aggregate statistical data: counts, averages, and distributions. This privacy-by-design approach satisfies GDPR, CCPA, and other data protection requirements.
We run audience analytics in our European stores with full GDPR compliance confirmed by our DPO.
On-device processing with no cloud image transmission
No facial recognition or individual identification
Aggregate-only data output satisfying GDPR and CCPA
Four steps to connected screens.
From setup to live content in minutes, not days.
Install the camera
Mount a small USB camera above or beside your screen, angled to capture the viewing area. Hangar.Media provides recommended camera models and mounting guidelines.
Enable audience analytics
Activate the analytics module in the Hangar.Media dashboard for the screens equipped with cameras. The on-device detection engine starts processing immediately.
Define reporting settings
Set up which metrics you want to track, set up automated reports, and define content scoring thresholds for performance alerts.
Review and optimize
Use the analytics dashboard to review viewer counts, attention times, and content scores. Adjust your playlist based on what actually engages your audience.
Built for every sector.

In-store advertising effectiveness
Retailers measure which promotional displays attract the most attention and for how long, using data to optimize creative content and screen placement in high-traffic store areas.
CorporateInternal communications reach
Corporate communications teams measure how many employees actually view internal announcement screens and which messages generate the most engagement in common areas.
EntertainmentVenue advertising proof of play
Venues selling advertising space on their screens provide advertisers with verified impression data including viewer counts, demographics, and attention time for each campaign.
PublicPublic information display effectiveness
Transit authorities and government agencies measure how effectively their information displays communicate with the public by tracking viewer attention across different content types.
Common questions. Straight answers.
Does audience analytics store photos or video of viewers
No. All processing happens on the device in real time. Camera frames are analyzed and immediately discarded. Only aggregate numerical data such as counts, averages, and distributions are stored and transmitted.
What camera hardware do I need
Any USB webcam with 720p resolution or higher works. Hangar.Media recommends wide-angle cameras for screens in close-proximity viewing environments. The platform provides a list of tested and recommended camera models.
How accurate are the demographic estimates
Age range estimates are accurate within a 10-year bracket approximately 85 percent of the time. Gender estimation accuracy is approximately 95 percent. These are statistical estimates intended for aggregate audience profiling, not individual identification.
Is this compliant with GDPR and privacy regulations
Yes. The privacy-by-design architecture processes data on-device and outputs only aggregate statistics. No personal data or biometric data is collected, stored, or transmitted. This approach has been validated as compliant with GDPR and CCPA requirements.
