Pick up a product the screen responds.
Create lift-and-learn experiences where picking up a product triggers detailed information, videos, and comparisons on a nearby screen. No tapping, no scanning, just natural shopping behavior.
Let products tell their own story
The Lift and Learn integration uses weight sensors, RFID tags, or infrared break-beam sensors placed under products on display shelves. When a customer lifts an item, the adjacent screen immediately shows product details, feature comparisons, demonstration videos, and pricing information. Replacing the item returns the screen to its idle attract content.
What you can do with the screen responds.
Three capabilities that make this integration essential for your digital signage network.
One sensor per product position
Map each sensor position on your display shelf to specific content in the Hangar.Media dashboard. When the sensor detects a product lift, the mapped content plays instantly. Rearranging products on the shelf only requires updating the sensor-to-content mapping, not the physical hardware.
We rearranged our product display and remapped the sensors in the dashboard in under five minutes.
Visual sensor-to-content mapping editor
Supports up to 32 positions per screen
Remap without any hardware changes
Videos, comparisons, and specs
Each product position can trigger a full content package including product images, feature highlight videos, specification tables, and side-by-side comparisons with other products in the range. Customers get the information they need without searching or waiting for staff.
Customers watch the demo video and understand the product better than any salesperson could explain.
Product videos, image galleries, and specification sheets
Side-by-side comparison when multiple items are lifted
Promotional pricing and availability display
Know what customers pick up
Track which products are lifted most frequently, how long customers hold them, and whether they lift multiple items for comparison. This data reveals shopper interest patterns that inform merchandising decisions and product placement strategies.
We discovered our mid-range product gets lifted twice as much as the premium model.
Lift count and hold duration per product position
Multi-product comparison frequency tracking
Peak shopping time analysis for staffing decisions
Four steps to connected screens.
From setup to live content in minutes, not days.
Install sensor hardware
Place weight sensors, RFID readers, or break-beam sensors at each product position on your display shelf. Connect them to the Hangar.Media player via USB or serial.
Map sensors to content
In the dashboard, assign each sensor position to the product content it should trigger, including images, videos, and specification data.
Set up the attract loop
Set up the idle content that plays when no products are being lifted. Use eye-catching visuals to draw shoppers to the display.
Launch and analyze
Activate the lift-and-learn experience and monitor product engagement analytics to optimize your display layout and product range.
Built for every sector.
See how different industries use this integration to drive results.
Electronics product comparison
Electronics retailers create lift-and-learn displays for phones, tablets, and wearables where customers pick up devices and see feature comparisons, pricing, and demo videos on an adjacent screen.
BeautyCosmetics product information
Beauty stores use lift-and-learn to show ingredient details, application tutorials, and shade matching information when customers pick up skincare or makeup products.
HealthcareMedical device education
Medical supply showrooms use lift-and-learn displays so healthcare professionals can pick up devices and see detailed specifications, usage videos, and ordering information on screen.
EntertainmentMuseum exhibit interaction
Museums create interactive exhibits where visitors lift replica artifacts or sample objects and the adjacent screen displays historical information, videos, and contextual stories.
Common questions. Straight answers.
What sensor types are supported
Hangar.Media supports weight and pressure sensors, RFID tag readers, infrared break-beam sensors, and capacitive presence sensors. Nexmosphere sensor hardware is also natively supported through its dedicated integration.
How fast does the screen react when a product is lifted
Screen content changes within 500 milliseconds of a sensor trigger. The response is fast enough that customers perceive the content change as instantaneous when they pick up an item.
Can the screen show different content when two products are lifted simultaneously
Yes. When multiple items are lifted at the same time, Hangar.Media can display a side-by-side comparison view. You set up the comparison content in the dashboard for each product combination.
Does the screen return to normal when the product is placed back
Yes. When the sensor detects the product has been returned, the screen reverts to the attract loop after an adjustable delay. This ensures the display is always ready for the next customer interaction.
