Any stream, any protocol. Direct to screen.
Connect HLS and RTSP video streams from IP cameras, hardware encoders, and live production systems to your digital signage. Display security feeds, live event cameras, and broadcast streams with minimal latency.
Professional-grade streaming protocols for signage
HLS and RTSP are the backbone protocols of professional video streaming. Hangar.Media natively supports both, letting you display feeds from IP cameras, video encoders, CDN streams, and broadcast infrastructure on your digital signage. No transcoding, no extra software, just paste a stream URL and display.
What you can do with Direct to screen.
Three capabilities that make this integration essential for your digital signage network.
Camera Grid Layouts
Display multiple HLS or RTSP streams in a grid layout on a single screen. Create 2x2, 3x3, or custom grid layouts to monitor multiple camera feeds or live sources simultaneously.
Nine cameras, one screen, zero lag.
Adjustable grid sizes up to 4x4
Individual stream labels and overlays
Automatic stream health monitoring
Near Real-Time Playback
RTSP streams play with sub-second latency for time-critical applications like security monitoring and live event displays. HLS streams deliver reliable playback with adaptive bitrate for varying network conditions.
See it happen as it happens.
RTSP latency under 500 milliseconds
HLS adaptive bitrate streaming
Buffer-free playback on stable networks
Self-Healing Stream Connections
When a stream drops or a camera goes offline, Hangar.Media automatically attempts to reconnect. Display a custom offline graphic while reconnecting and resume the stream without manual intervention.
Streams recover before you notice they dropped.
Automatic reconnection attempts
Custom offline placeholder graphics
Stream health alerts to the dashboard
Four steps to connected screens.
From setup to live content in minutes, not days.
Add stream URL
Paste your HLS (.m3u8) or RTSP stream URL into the Hangar.Media content library as a new stream source.
Preview and adjust
Preview the stream in the dashboard, set display name, and adjust audio, aspect ratio, and buffering.
Choose layout
Display the stream full-screen, in a zone layout, or as part of a multi-stream camera grid.
Publish and monitor
Push the stream to your screens and monitor connection health from the Hangar.Media dashboard.
Built for every sector.
See how different industries use this integration to drive results.
Lobby security camera displays
Display security camera RTSP feeds on reception screens to show visitors that the premises are monitored and secure.
EntertainmentLive event multi-camera views
Stream multiple camera angles from concerts and events to screens throughout the venue for enhanced viewing experiences.
PublicTraffic and infrastructure monitoring
Display traffic camera HLS feeds on public information screens at transport hubs and municipal buildings.
HealthcareSurgical suite observation
Stream operating room cameras to observation and training rooms using RTSP for near-real-time surgical education.
Common questions. Straight answers.
What is the difference between HLS and RTSP?
HLS is an HTTP-based protocol ideal for reliable, adaptive streaming over standard networks. RTSP is a real-time protocol offering lower latency, typically used for IP cameras and live production. Hangar.Media supports both natively.
Can I display streams from IP security cameras?
Yes. Most IP cameras provide an RTSP stream URL. Enter this URL into Hangar.Media and the camera feed will display on your signage. Check your camera documentation for the RTSP URL format.
How many streams can I display on one screen?
You can display up to 16 streams in a 4x4 grid layout on a single screen. The practical limit depends on your signage player hardware and network bandwidth.
Do streams require authentication?
Hangar.Media supports authenticated streams. You can include credentials in the stream URL or set up authentication separately in the stream settings for RTSP sources that require username and password access.
One price. The whole platform.
