Weather alerts. Safety first.
Display severe weather warnings, watches, and advisories from national weather services on your digital signage screens in real time. Keep your people safe with automated alert takeover that interrupts regular content for critical weather information.
Severe weather safety for every screen in your network.
The Hangar.Media Weather Alerts integration monitors national weather services for severe weather warnings, watches, and advisories affecting your screen locations. When alerts are issued, screens can automatically display the alert with full details, severity level, and recommended actions. Regular content resumes when alerts expire or are cancelled.
What you can do with Safety first.
Three capabilities that make this integration essential for your digital signage network.
Continuous monitoring for severe weather in your area
The system continuously monitors weather services for alerts affecting each of your screen locations. Tornado warnings, severe thunderstorm warnings, flood watches, winter storm warnings, and heat advisories are all detected and delivered to the relevant screens automatically.
Tornado warning in your county? Your screens know before your phone buzzes.
Continuous monitoring for all alert types and severity levels
Location-specific alerts matched to individual screen locations
Tornado, thunderstorm, flood, winter storm, and heat alerts covered
Automatic full-screen alert display for critical warnings
When a severe warning is issued, affected screens automatically switch to a full-screen alert display. The alert shows the warning type, severity, timing, affected area, and any recommended safety actions. The bold, high-contrast design ensures readability in any lighting.
Critical warnings take over the screen automatically. No human in the loop required.
Full-screen takeover for severe warnings
High-contrast, bold typography for emergency readability
Optional audible alert tone to draw attention
Adjustable response levels for different alert severities
Not every alert needs full-screen takeover. Set up response levels by alert severity: full-screen takeover for warnings, ticker bar for watches, and subtle banner for advisories. Each tier has its own display behavior and priority.
Warnings take over. Watches add a ticker. Advisories show a banner. Proportional response.
Full-screen mode for severe warnings and emergencies
Ticker bar overlay for weather watches
Subtle banner for advisories and statements

Common questions. Straight answers.
Which weather services are monitored?
The integration monitors the US National Weather Service, Environment Canada, the UK Met Office, and equivalent agencies in supported countries. Alerts cover the full range of weather hazards.
How quickly do alerts appear on screens?
Alerts appear on affected screens within 60 seconds of being issued by the national weather service. The system polls for new alerts continuously throughout the day.
Can I prevent alerts from taking over specific screens?
Yes. Each screen or screen group can be set up to receive full takeover alerts, ticker-only alerts, or no weather alerts at all. This is useful for screens in secure areas that should not be interrupted.
Do alerts expire automatically?
Yes. Weather alerts include expiration times set by the issuing weather service. Once an alert expires or is cancelled, your screens automatically return to their regular content.
