Sectors // Overview

Optometry is clinical practice plus high-street retail. Signage has to serve both.

An optometry practice is unusual in healthcare — it's a clinical appointment followed by a retail sale. The patient arrives for an eye test, receives a prescription, and then chooses frames at the retail desk. Signage has to do appointment-flow (reception) AND retail promotion (frame area) AND post-visit collection (pickup counter) cleanly. Hangar.Media runs all three surfaces from one platform, integrated with your PMS (Optix, Ocuco, iClarity, generic REST) and your frame-retail POS. Patient names stay alias-only by default; frame promotion is POS-aware so sold-out styles disappear from display.

PMS integration (Optix, Ocuco, iClarity, FHIR-compatible systems) for appointment-flow boards
Frame-of-the-month retail promotion with POS-aware stock-availability
Prescription-ready collection boards with alias-only privacy
Multi-language patient education (eye-health, myopia, macular, cataracts)
Multi-practice rollout for optical chains with per-practice local promotion
Sectors // What It Does

Built for how optometrists actually run.

The capabilities that matter in this sector — concrete, specific, and backed by the integrations your team already uses.

Appointment Flow // 01

Eye-test running on time, visibly.

Reception screens show today's appointment flow drawn from your PMS — alias-only now-seeing and next-up, optometrist-room assignment, running-on-time status. Patients stop asking reception 'am I next?'. When a test runs 10 minutes long, the screen softens the wait with 'running slightly behind, we'll be with you shortly' messaging.

The reception desk stops fielding 'am I next?' calls.
  • Optix, Ocuco, iClarity, Eyetotal PMS integration
  • Alias-only patient display (first-name-only)
  • Running-on-time / running-behind status with automatic thresholds
  • Per-optometrist photo and biography for personalisation
Frame Retail // 02

Frame-of-the-month, in stock.

The frame-selection area runs retail-style displays promoting the frame-of-the-month, seasonal collections and designer launches — all POS-aware so out-of-stock styles drop from the rotation automatically. When a hero frame sells out at your practice, the screen swaps to the next-in-line recommendation. Average frame attach-rate climbs measurably when frame promotion matches on-shelf inventory.

The customer chooses a frame they can actually leave with.
  • POS-aware frame-of-the-month rotation with auto-hide for sold-out
  • Seasonal collection campaigns (sunglasses in summer, ski-goggles in winter)
  • Designer-launch content pushed from the head-office buying team
  • Per-practice local overrides for independent selections
Prescription Ready // 03

Ready for collection. Alias-only.

When new glasses come back from the lab, prescription-ready screens at the collection counter surface the order without breaching privacy — alias-only (first-name plus order-number) so the customer knows to approach. Reduces 'has my order come in?' phone calls to the practice, and speeds turnover at the collection desk.

The customer walks in, looks at the screen, knows to approach.
  • Alias-only (first-name + order-number) collection display
  • Lab-return integration with audit-log for order-processing time
  • Multi-language collection prompts for international-traveller practices
  • Collection-wait-time estimation from desk-staff activity data
Eye-Health Education // 04

The wait becomes patient education.

Waiting-room screens run eye-health content matched to the patient demographic: myopia progression for child-heavy practices, macular and cataract content for over-60 populations, digital-eye-strain content for corporate-catchment practices. Multi-language playback covers the 12 most-spoken languages in UK and US optometry practices.

Patients walk into the test informed. The optometrist starts at chapter 2.
  • Eye-health library (myopia, macular, cataract, glaucoma, digital-eye-strain)
  • Demographic-matched content scheduling (child, adult, senior)
  • Multi-language playback (EN, ES, AR, ZH, UR, PL, RO and more)
  • NHS-endorsed and AOA-endorsed content options
Multi-Practice // 05

Optical chain, centrally run.

National optical chains (Vision Express, Specsavers-style operations) manage content centrally — patient-education shared across every practice, brand-standard frame-campaign rollouts, local autonomy for practice-manager events. Head office pushes the autumn designer-launch campaign across every practice simultaneously with preview-all-stores dry-run.

National campaigns go live across 500 practices at 7am. Nobody visits a shop.
  • Central content library with per-practice override capability
  • Brand-standard frame-campaign enforcement with local-promotion autonomy
  • Role-based permissions (HQ, area manager, practice manager, retail assistant)
  • Per-practice usage, uptime and content analytics

Sectors // Questions

Common questions. Straight answers.

Which optometry PMS systems do you integrate with?

Optix, Ocuco Acuitas, iClarity, Eyetotal, Eyecare Pro, SuperVision, Revolution EHR and FHIR-compatible generic PMS. We pull appointment-flow data (now-seeing, next-up, optometrist-room assignment) with alias-only patient display. Frame-retail POS integration (Shopify POS, Lightspeed, Oracle Retail) enables stock-aware frame promotion.

How do you handle frame-promotion when stock varies per practice?

Frame promotion is POS-aware. When a hero frame sells out at a specific practice, the screen at that practice auto-rotates to the next-in-line recommendation while other practices continue showing it if they're still in stock. Head-office campaigns run estate-wide by default with per-practice stock-aware overrides. Out-of-stock frames never show on screens where the practice can't sell them.

Can we run different content per age group in the waiting area?

Yes. Content zones per screen plus demographic-matched scheduling (child, adult, senior) mean the children-area screen runs age-appropriate content during kid-heavy appointment slots, while the main waiting area runs adult or senior-focused eye-health content. Hospitality-heavy practices (mall, airport locations) can run multilingual content during international-visitor peaks.

What does a setup cost for a 3-practice optical group?

£5 per screen per month, flat. A 3-practice group with 5 screens per practice (reception, waiting, frame-retail, collection, window) pays £75 per month. Every feature in scope, every integration bundled. No enterprise gate, no volume dance.
